Payment methods at Alberta online casinos

We may earn commission from operators listed here. How we make money.

Registered Alberta operators mostly take the same handful of payment methods — Interac e-Transfer, debit or credit cards, Apple Pay and, at PlayAlberta and Hollywood Casino, PayPal. Which one gets your money back fastest depends on the operator, not the payment method: bet365 states Interac withdrawals in 1–4 hours, while BetMGM adds an internal review of up to 3–5 days before its own 1–3 day window even starts.

How we built this: The figures below come from each operator's published Alberta terms, help pages and banking schedules — not from real-money withdrawals we've made ourselves. Your own cashout can still run longer than the stated window, depending on how fast your verification clears and your bank's own processing time.

  • Interac e-Transfer is a money-transfer service, offered by Interac Corp., that lets a person send or receive money using only the recipient's email address or mobile phone number linked to an account at a participating Canadian financial institution — Interac states it is supported by more than 250 participating financial institutions across Canada. [1]
  • A person must be registered as an iGaming supplier under section 49.2 of the Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Act before operating an iGaming site or providing goods or services to one in Alberta, subject to narrow exemptions such as iGaming workers. [2], [3], [4]
  • Under the Standards and Requirements for Internet Gaming, an individual is not eligible to hold or use an Alberta iGaming player account if they are under 18, are in a self-exclusion process that applies to the site, are known to be restricted from the site by a court order, are a legally or self-excluded person otherwise determined inadmissible, or are an officer, board member or partner of the operator or an employee of a registered iGaming supplier. Before an account can be created, the operator must collect and validate the player's full legal name and date of birth against FINTRAC-compliant government-issued identification (a provincial health card is not an acceptable form of ID), a FINTRAC-compliant physical address, and contact information, plus any information required by anti-money-laundering law. Payment methods compared

Choosing the right payment rail affects both deposit speed and how quickly cashouts arrive. The table below is what published Alberta operator terms currently document. Operator approval windows vary by brand — see the operator-specific notes below rather than treating the range as a single promise.

Payment Method Best For Operator approval (varies by brand) Banking delivery after release Documented limits (examples) Supported operators (documented)
Interac e-Transfer Common Canadian payout rail From about 1–4 hours (bet365 stated) to multi-day internal review (BetMGM states up to 3–5 days before processing) Minutes to a few hours once released (operator-stated) bet365 documents $10–$10,000 Interac limits; PlayAlberta site-wide deposit min $5 / max $25,000 per day bet365, theScore Bet, BetMGM, Bally Bet, PlayAlberta
Debit & credit cards (Visa / Mastercard) Convenient deposits Depends on issuer / Visa Direct participation; BetMGM states 3–5 business days after internal review for card withdrawals Instant deposits; withdrawals 1–3 banking days when Visa Direct / send is available bet365 documents debit/credit deposit mins $10 with high stated maxima; PlayAlberta cards are deposit-only bet365, theScore Bet, BetMGM, Bally Bet, PlayAlberta (deposit)
Apple Pay Mobile deposits Deposit-focused at most brands; BetMGM help articles conflict on withdrawal eligibility Instant funding when offered bet365 documents Apple Pay deposit/withdrawal with stated limits; PlayAlberta lists Apple Pay as deposit-only bet365, theScore Bet (deposit), BetMGM, PlayAlberta (deposit)
PayPal / e-wallets E-wallet flexibility PlayAlberta and Hollywood Casino both list PayPal for deposit and withdrawal Instant to 24 hours once released (operator/network dependent) PlayAlberta site-wide deposit caps apply ($5 min; $25,000/day or $100,000/week); Hollywood Casino publishes no PayPal-specific limit PlayAlberta, Hollywood Casino
Bank transfer / wire Larger transfers bet365 documents bank-wire withdrawals within 12 hours; BetMGM 2–4 business days after internal review; PlayAlberta electronic bank transfer is withdrawal-capable 1–5 banking days depending on rail PlayAlberta publishes a $10 minimum withdrawal; maxima often unstated per method bet365, theScore Bet (EFT), BetMGM, PlayAlberta

Internal review vs banking delivery

The thing that trips people up is that a cashout has two separate stages, and operators only fully control one of them.

  1. The operator's internal review. The operator checks your eligibility and identity (KYC) before it releases the money. This is where the biggest differences show up: bet365 states a 1–4 hour Interac release, BetMGM documents an internal review of up to 3–5 days before withdrawal processing even begins, and Bally Bet's own help articles give Interac timings anywhere from under 24 hours to longer. PlayAlberta's Player Agreement points to multi-day electronic processing on some rails.
  2. Banking delivery. Once the operator releases the funds, transit time depends on the rail — Interac, Visa Direct, EFT/ACSS or wire. Network calendars and intermediary banks can add time on top of whatever the operator states.

Payment methods in Alberta

Interac e-Transfer

Interac e-Transfer is documented at most registered Alberta operators and connects to Canadian financial institutions directly. Deposits are typically instant once accepted; withdrawal timing after approval is brand-specific — see the operator notes below and each documented review.

Credit and debit cards (Visa & Mastercard)

Cards are widely accepted for deposits. Whether you can withdraw back to the same card depends on your card issuer's participation in a program such as Visa Direct. When that's not available, operators fall back to Interac or bank transfer instead.

Mobile wallets (Apple Pay)

Apple Pay is offered for deposits at several registered operators. Withdrawal treatment is brand-specific: PlayAlberta lists Apple Pay as deposit-only, BetMGM's own help articles conflict on whether Apple Pay withdrawals are supported, and bet365 documents Apple Pay withdrawal terms on its Alberta payment pages.

E-wallets and bank wire

PayPal is documented on PlayAlberta and Hollywood Casino for deposits and withdrawals. Electronic bank transfer or wire options handle larger balances but usually take longer once released, and your bank may charge its own fee on top.

What each operator states

The details below come from each operator's published Alberta payment documentation, captured in our profiles — not from live cashout tests:

  • bet365: Interac (bank transfer) withdrawals documented at 1–4 hours with $10–$10,000 stated Interac limits and no Interac fees stated. Debit/credit withdrawals also documented at 1–4 hours. Bank transfer / wire withdrawals documented within 12 hours. Apple Pay is listed with deposit and withdrawal support. Read the bet365 Alberta review.
  • theScore Bet: every withdrawal is stated to go through a 24-hour review. After it, an Interac e-Transfer arrives within the hour if auto-deposit is on and an approved Visa debit withdrawal can take an hour to settle; Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) takes 3 to 5 business days. Mastercard debit and Apple Pay are deposit-only. theScore Bet states a $25,000 Interac withdrawal cap; for Visa debit and EFT the limit is set by your bank or card issuer.
  • BetMGM: Documents an internal review of up to 3–5 days before withdrawal processing begins. Interac e-Transfer withdrawals are stated as 1–3 business days after that review. Visa/Mastercard withdrawals 3–5 business days after review. Apple Pay is offered for deposits; help articles conflict on withdrawal eligibility. Read the BetMGM documented review.
  • Bally Bet: Interac e-Transfer withdrawal timing is stated inconsistently across help articles (from under 24 hours up to longer windows). Visa/Mastercard withdrawal timing is stated as 24 hours to 5 days. Its help centre states a $10 to $10,000 per-transaction range on every method but doesn't name Alberta. Read the Bally Bet documented review.
  • PlayAlberta: Provincial platform. Visa, Mastercard, and Apple Pay are deposit methods; withdrawals are listed as electronic bank transfer, PayPal, and INTERAC e-Transfer. Site-wide deposit limits: minimum $5; maximum $25,000 per day or $100,000 per week. Minimum withdrawal $10. Electronic processing can take multiple business days. Read the PlayAlberta documented review.
  • Ruby Fortune: Visa deposits are documented as mostly processed in real time, with withdrawals taking a few business days depending on bank processing. Interac and Apple Pay are both deposit- and withdrawal-capable; Mastercard, American Express and Google Pay are deposit-only. PayPal is not among its listed methods. Read the Ruby Fortune documented review.
  • Betty Casino: Interac e-Transfer and Visa are documented as both deposit- and withdrawal-capable; Mastercard and Apple Pay are deposit-only. Its published maximum withdrawal is $9,999 per transaction, applied per transaction rather than per day. Read the Betty Casino documented review.

Identity checks (KYC) come before your money does

Registered operators have to collect and check your ID before they'll release a payout — that's a FINTRAC and AGLC requirement, not a brand being slow on purpose. Getting it done early is the single biggest thing you control:

  1. Submit identity documents early: upload a valid government-issued photo ID (Alberta driver's licence or Canadian passport) right after you register, not when you first try to withdraw.
  2. Match your banking and profile details: the legal name on your bank account or payment card has to match your registration. Third-party payments aren't allowed.
  3. Keep proof of address handy: a recent utility bill or bank statement, in case an electronic address check fails.
