Editorial policy

Every factual statement about Alberta's iGaming market on this site is sourced, dated and attributed. This page explains how.

Sourcing hierarchy

We rank sources in this order and never skip a level when a higher one is available:

1. Primary regulator or legislation — the Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Act, the Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Regulation, AGLC's Standards for Registrants and Interactive Gaming (SRIG), AGLC's published Compliance Approach, and AGLC's Gaming Registrants export.
2. An operator's own published terms — used only for facts about that specific operator (for example, which legal entity operates a brand), never for facts about the law itself.
3. Never affiliates. We do not source regulatory or operator facts from other affiliate sites, review aggregators, or marketing content — including our own advertising partners' materials.

Every claim record we publish stores the exact statement, which source(s) back it, the date we last checked it, and a status (verified, unverified, disputed or superseded). A page can only cite a claim that is currently marked verified. Where evidence is incomplete or ambiguous, we say so and mark the claim unverified rather than guess.

Verification levels

Facts about a specific operator (for example, which payment methods it offers) are labelled with how we verified them:

• Documented — confirmed in the operator's own published materials or a primary regulatory source, but not independently observed on the operator's site.
• Manually inspected — an editor viewed the operator's site or account flow directly.
• Real-money tested — an editor completed the action (for example, a deposit or withdrawal) with real funds.
• Inferred — reasoned from related evidence, not directly confirmed; used sparingly and flagged as such.
• Not tested — not yet verified by any method; shown as a gap, not filled with a guess.

Independence from commercial relationships

Which operators we list, and their regulatory status, is never affected by whether we have a commercial relationship with that operator. An operator's registration status comes only from AGLC and AiGC's own public records — see methodology. Any commercial relationship is disclosed on the page it affects and explained in full at how we make money.
